BetFred Cup: Spartans head West to tackle the SpidersSpartans continue to build on their impressive start to their inaugural entry into the BetFred Cup as they head to the National Stadium to take on SPFL League 2 side Queen’s Park. With two draws from the regulatory 90 minutes against League 1 outfit Dumbarton and Tuesday night’s exceptional 2-2 draw at the home of Premiership club St Mirren that made widespread media headline news, Spartans head west keen to preserve their technical unbeaten run in the competition, but bonus points in each game being surrendered via the lottery of a penalty shoot-out. Duncan Smith is the man in the middle for what promises to be another exciting instalment for the Ainslie Park side who qualified for their first BetFred Cup involvement following their Lowland League triumph last season. It is to be remembered too that this is still a pre-season tournament too and the results so far pay testament to how far the club has come over the last couple of seasons at least. Squad news sees almost a full squad available for Coach Derek Riddel who keeps fort in the dug-out whilst Sammy sits it out as he continues to recuperate at home. Kick-off at Hampden is at 3.00pm. We’d love to see a strong SpartanArmy at Hampden for the game. Admission: Adults £14, OAP’s 65 and over £5, 16 and under £3, Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pay at the gate Spartans supporters will be housed in the William Hill Stand. |
